Last term Jesse Rowan published an article in the Scoop calling for interested members to form a Gonski committee. We are happy to report that we have formed a committee. Our committee members are parents Jesse Rowan and Nick Stone, and teachers Nerida Bourke and Tania Dorney.
Jesse is the committee chairperson. She has been involved in the P&C for seven years and has written many letters to politicians on behalf of the P&C. She was disappointed to see two-thirds of the funding that was promised to NSW schools cut after the federal election and decided to take political action. Nick has worked and studied in various education fields for over 30 years, working in schools and universities and in research and training. Nerida has taught for thirty years in NSW public schools and Tania is Broulee’s Learning and Support Teacher.
We look forward to keeping in contact with you regarding school funding reform, more commonly known as “Gonski”. We will write short articles about what school funding reform is, what it will mean for our school and other Australian schools and fill you in on what action we have been taking.
